CONFLICTING SOFTWARE:

The following common security software programs may or may not conflict with StopSign:


Norton, Symantec, McAfee, Panda, PC-Cillin, Spybot Search and Destroy, SpyCatcher (Tenebril), SpyFerret (OnlinePCFix), SpyFighter (SG-Soft), SpyHunter (Enigma), Spyware Anonymizer, Spyware Remover (BulletproofSoft), Spyware Stopper, Spyware Stormer, Spyzooka, Stopzilla, Trend Micro Anti-Spyware 3.0 (Formerly SpySubtract), ZoneAlarm (ZoneLabs), AVG, AVAST, and there may be others.

These applications may conflict with StopSign. You may have to choose whether to disable StopSign or the conflicting software.

We recommend that you run only one anti-spyware or anti-virus program at a time.

If you decide to disable or uninstall the conflicting software, you might need to uninstall and then reinstall StopSign - as it may have been corrupted - if StopSign has become corrupted, you may receive a FATAL ERROR MESSAGE.

Follow these instructions to uninstall conflicting software:

1. Navigate to ADD or REMOVE PROGRAMS or PROGRAMS AND FEATURES using the instruction below that coincides with your current operating system.

Windows XP:

Select START > CONTROL PANEL > ADD OR REMOVE PROGRAMS.

Windows VISTA and 7:

Select START > CONTROL PANEL > PROGRAMS > PROGRAMS AND FEATURES.

Windows 8, 8.1, and 10:

Press and hold the Windows Key located between the CTRL and ALT keys on the left side of your keyboard and tap the X key releasing both keys at the same time. A menu should appear and at the top you will see Programs and Features. Left click on Programs and features.

In all of the cases above the ADD or REMOVE PROGRAMS or the PROGRAMS and FEATURES window will appear and populate the installed programs. This make take a few moments to load. Please be patient with your computer.

2) Next look for the conflicting software to be uninstalled and left click on it to select it.

3) Click the Uninstall or the Change/Remove button that appears either to your right of the selected program or along the top of the of the PROGRAMS AND FEATURES window.

4) Carefully read and follow the prompts of the program you are removing.

Note of Caution:

It is important to read the prompts and select the appropriate response(s) or action(s). Some programs may try to install other programs or leave parts of itself behind based on your responses or lack of response to certain questions during the uninstall process. Should you experience problems uninstalling a conflicting software, you will need to contact the manufacturer of the software program you are attempting to remove. Please be aware that you are solely responsible for your choice in removing the software. The instructions above are general instructions that will provide for the uninstall of most programs. Some manufacturers may have specific methods for uninstalling their product and it is always important to check with the manufacturer of the program to determine the correct method of removal. Always refer to the manufacturer if you are unsure or hesitant about proceeding.
