Troubleshooting - Fatal Error, Download Problems
Posted by _Liz G., Last modified by _Dean O. on 19 November 2013 08:26 PM

NOTE: Click HERE for a list of StopSign's minimum system requirements.

Windows 95, 98, and ME are no longer supported by StopSign or by Microsoft.

If you see a fatal error message or if you have difficulties during the installation of StopSign, it is often caused by running other security-related software that conflicts with StopSign software.  Look through the list of conflicting programs below and then continue to the uninstall and reinstall instructions to correct the fatal error message.

To determine if you have conflicting software, open the Control Panel.

WINDOWS XP USERS CLICK HERE FOR STEPS TO UNINSTALL VIA THE CONTROL PANEL.

WINDOWS VISTA AND WINDOWS 7 USERS CLICK HERE FOR STEPS TO UNINSTALL VIA THE CONTROL PANEL.

WINDOWS 8 USERS CLICK HERE FOR STEPS TO UNINSTALL VIA THE CONTROL PANEL.

Look in this list for any security-related software such as:

  • Spybot Search and Destroy

  • SpyCatcher (Tenebril)

  • SpyFerret (OnlinePCFix)

  • SpyFighter (SG-Soft)

  • SpyHunter (Enigma)

  • Spyware Anonymizer

  • Spyware Remover (BulletproofSoft)

  • Spyware Stopper

  • Spyware Stormer

  • Spyzooka

  • Stopzilla

  • Trend Micro Anti-Spyware 3.0 (Formerly SpySubtract)

  • ZoneAlarm (ZoneLabs)

These applications might conflict with StopSign. You may have to choose whether to disable StopSign or the conflicting software.

We recommend that you run only one anti-spyware or anti-virus program at a time.

If you decide to disable or uninstall the conflicting software, you might need to uninstall and then reinstall
StopSign - as it may have been corrupted - thus resulting in the fatal error message.
