The StopSign On Access Scanner will help protect your computer when you are surfing the internet:

Real-time protection by scanning files on your computer as you access them.

Configuring StopSign On-Access Scan Settings:

To open the On-Access Scan Settings dialog box -

Click START > PROGRAMS > EACCELERATION > StopSign > ON ACCESS SCAN SETTINGS.

Once you have opened the On Access Scan Settings dialog box - there are three areas - where you can change how the On-Access Scan functions.

GENERAL Tab:

This section has the general StopSign On Access Scan settings.

Scan Archives: Selecting this scans inside archived files.

Launch at Windows Startup: Selecting this will launch the On Access scan at the start of your system, this may add some time to the startup process.

Do not scan files larger than (MB): __ (Default is 50)

NOTE: By default StopSign only scans files smaller than 50Mb. Most files larger than 50Mb are usually not virus threats - it aids in the scanning efficiency by scanning smaller - more volitile files. It is possible to change this setting to include larger files, however, it will slow the scanning speed greatly.

Enable Execution Guard: Selecting this provides real time protection, scanning files on your computer as you access them.

Enable Download Guard: Selecting this monitors your computer's hard drives for infections downloaded from the internet.

Enable Cookie Guard: Selecting this will block spyware cookies that attempt to access your computer.

Prompt when blocking cookies: Selecting this will display a message when a cookie is being blocked.

EXCLUDE FOLDERS Tab:

This is where you can exclude folders from being watched by the On-Access Scan.

Add: This is where you can browse to a folders location and add it to the exclude list, this will tell the On-Access Scan to ignore files that location.

Remove: Selecting an item in the list and clicking the Remove button will remove the folder from the Exclude list, this will allow the On-Access Scan to watch any file from the removed location.

Default Excludes include C:\Windows\System32\WBEM, C:\Windows\System32\config, C:\Windows\Prefetch, C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution, C:\RECYCLER.

EXCLUDE EXTENSIONS Tab:

This is where you can exclude extensions from being watched by the On-Access Scan.

Add: This is where you can enter an extension (such as .txt) to the exclude list, this will tell the On-Access Scan to ignore files of that type.

Remove: Selecting an item in the list and clicking the Remove button will remove the extension from the Exclude list, this will allow the On-Access Scan to watch any file of that type.

Edit: This is where you can edit an existing entry by selecting an item in the list and clicking the Edit button.

CAUTION: There are default items listed (.log, .dat, .pf, and .tmp). Removing these will allow On-Access to scan these files. Please be aware that if you do this your scanning and computer speed may be affected, as many .log and .dat files are operating systems files and are in use - thus unavailable for detailed scanning. This will slow the performance of your system.

If you make any changes, make sure you click the Apply button at the bottom right side of the On-Access Scan Settings window, then click OK to finish. Your changes will thena be effective.
