Reset Internet Proxy Settings

 

On occasion a "rogue" program may change the internet proxy settings on your computer - preventing you from surfing the internet. This can be corrected by resetting your proxy settings as outlined below.


NOTE: If you are using a corporate computer, your IT department may have its own proxy settings. Please check with your IT department before resetting any network configurations.


The Internet Options Dialog box can be opened either through Internet Explorer OR through the Control Panel. Please follow only one of the three methods listed below to open the dialog box, and then proceed to the configuring proxy settings instructions which follow:

OPENING THE INTERNET OPTIONS DIALOG BOX

Control Panel - Category View Users

1. Click START > CONTROL PANEL

2. Choose NETWORK AND INTERNET CONNECTIONS

3. Double-click the INTERNET OPTIONS Icon


Control Panel - Classic View

1. Click START > CONTROL PANEL

2. Double-click the INTERNET OPTIONS Icon


Internet Explorer Tool Bar

1. Open Internet Explorer.

2. On the TOOLS menu, click INTERNET OPTIONS.


CONFIGURING THE PROXY SETTINGS

1. In the Internet Options dialog box, click the CONNECTIONS TAB.

2. On the CONNECTIONS TAB, click LAN SETTINGS

3. UnderPROXY SETTINGS

a. If there is NO Check in "Use a Proxy Server for your LAN", CHECK the box, then click on ADVANCED

b. If there is a check in "Use a Proxy Server for your LAN" Click on ADVANCED 

4. REMOVE Anything in "HTTP" and the "PORT" to the Right..

5. Click OK

6. You will receive a dialog box that reads "Invalid Proxy Server" Click YES

7. REMOVE the check next to : "Use a Proxy Server for your LAN"

8. Keep clicking "OK" until the dialog box fully closes.

If this does Not fix the Issue, then the Proxy Settings in the Browser they are using needs to be changed.


FireFox 3.0.5 Users 

1. Open Firefox 3.0.5

2. Click TOOLS > OPTIONS 

3. ClickADVANCED

3. Click the NETWORK tab

4. Click SETTINGS

5. Set to "NO PROXY"

6. Click "OK" then "OK" again.
