Prevent Browser Hijacking
Webpage hijacking is usually caused by malware. Short for malicious software, malware is designed to disrupt a system, and can be delivered through either a virus or a Trojan.
To prevent homepage hijacking, we recommend you use care when doing the internet activities listed below. Download files from only "known-safe" websites when possible, and ensure the StopSign On Access scanner is enabled. We also suggest you try using the Mozilla Firefox Internet Browser.
The most common ways you get malware from the internet are:
Downloading music
Sharing photos
Peer 2 Peer networking programs like Kazaa
Free programs that you install
Clicking popup ads
Email attachments sent to you
Chat rooms where you exchange files
Downloading games and screensavers
Browsing websites
Browsing adult-related websites
If your Internet Explorer homepage has been redirected, please follow these steps to reset it:
1) Open Internet Explorer.
2) Navigate to the website you want for your homepage.
3) Click TOOLS > INTERNET OPTIONS.
4) On the GENERAL tab, in the HOME PAGE section, click USE CURRENT.
5) Click OK.
