Skipping Directories - Scanner Freezing - Advanced

Before running these steps - please ensure you have run a SAFE MODE SCAN before continuing.

If the StopSign Threat Scanner  frequently freezes on the same file while trying to scan your hard drive, and the steps outlined above have not resolved this issue, please follow these steps to configure your StopSign Threat Scanner to skip a directory:

1) Click START > PROGRAMS > EACCELERATION > StopSign > START SCAN.

2) When the scanner freezes, write down the file path. (The PATH appears in the SCAN PROGRESS section of the StopSign Threat Scanner window.)

Example: "C:\winnt\system32\kernel32.dll".

3) Open the Threat Scanner Settings

Click START > PROGRAMS > EACCELERATION > StopSign > THREAT SCANNER SETTINGS.

4) Locate to the folder containing the file that you wrote down in Step 2.

To expand a file directory, click the plus ("+") sign beside the directory name. To contract a file directory, click the
minus ("-") sign.

In the example above, you would click the "+" sign in front of "C:" > the "+" sign in front of "winnt" > the "+" in
front of "system32".

5) Uncheck the box next to the folder holding the file you wrote down in Step 2.

6) Click OK.

7) Start a new scan. Click START > PROGRAMS > EACCELERATION > StopSign > START SCAN.
